The ARA Group is a corporate sponsor of YWCA'S Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.

YWCA'S Big Brothers Big Sisters is a nationally accredited Program. Trained and screened volunteers are matched with an individual child. By spending time with a responsible adult doing everyday activities, the young person is able to explore different skills and experiences that increase their sense of self worth, improve their relationships and develop their potential at home, school and in the community. Big Brothers Big Sisters brings about profound positive change in the way these young people feel about themselves and how they view their world.

Each year approximately 160 children benefit from YWCA's Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. More than 3000 children have benefited since the YWCA introduced the Program into Australia 28 years ago.

The Program relies largely on the success of the annual fundraiser "The Mother of All Balls". The Ball contributes around $500,000 annually to the operation of the program.

Bear Cottage

ARA Group companies provide facility maintenance services to Bear Cottage on a no-cost basis. The ARA’s air conditioning business, ACES, is a key partner of Bear Cottage and has been providing air conditioning services to Bear Cottage for the past 6 years. Automatic Fire provides Bear Cottage with fire protection services.

Bear Cottage is the first children's hospice in NSW. It is a place where children with terminal illnesses and their families can stay from time to time and receive rest and medical care in a home-like environment. In addition to providing respite and end of life care, Bear Cottage runs a number of other programs aimed at supporting the entire family.

Bear Cottage is located at Manly on Sydney's Northern Beaches and is designed as a large family beach home. Families do not pay for any Bear Cottage services and all operating expenses are raised entirely through community donations.

Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney

The ARA team was one of 500 teams who walked 100km on the weekend of 29-31 August 2008, on the Great North Walk and the Harbour to Hawkesbury Walking Track in the bushland of northern Sydney. The goal is to get your team across 100km of Australian bush in less than 48 hours - and to raise at least $1,000 to help overcome poverty and suffering around the world and support Oxfam's work in 26 countries, including Indigenous Australia.

Oxfam Trailwalker began in 1981 and is the world's greatest team challenge and one of the toughest. More than $2million has been raised from the 2008 walk.
